Our "Van" is in Vannes

Well they say is a 300+ one today (we always try to keep each journey less than 275 km so that we enjoy every day of our trip) I hope its gets better, we have just had the first expletive of the day and its only 9.30am. They bought a new mini fan heater, to use to demist the windscreen in the morning when they slid open the blinds. Well it was described as not better than a chocolate teapot, in fact apparently it would not warm a chocolate teapot never mind melt it – and more – so I guess that will never come out of the garage again!!

After my morning jaunt along the beach, its time to set off, every thing in its place including the daffodils in the fridge still in vase (I sometimes worry about them ) apparently, the don’t tip over while we drive, and it helps them last longer in the cool dark, so they are doing well on day 4.
Deceptive, looks quite but its full of tourists!

Our route is to take us to a lunch time stop that Guy has been to before – Mont St. Michel. Its still quite windy this morning and its not abated as we arrive. Alan said it was like to road into Skegness, narrow, featureless and impossible to overtake anything if you needed to (you have to let him have his little moan – he’s much better after). We park up and we set off hopefully for a little Sunday Lunch. Not to be, this is Skegness, every nationality of tourist including lots of coach loads pulling up and streaming into the tiny streets, and into restaurants where their food is already on the table. “No thank you” was the general thought. Dads said that the restaurants would serve anything as the tourists would eat it; we did buy a small brioche from a vendor for €3, and we were given a piece of nearly stale cake, even though it had been ordered in French by Guy, hindsight we should have looked what was being put in the bag.

I got my picture taken, lets just say enough times for one day, the most were taken by Japanese or Chinese who always smile we think its because they think I look like a Panda (and yes I have heard the one - eats shoots and leaves !)
Took this pic from half way up (or down)

So lunch in Pricilla, leaving the souvenir shops the restaurants in the medieval fortress and the Monastery at the top to those who enjoy this on a Sunday afternoon. Our overnight is to be just outside Vannes. (just us again on the whole site) Its an old military airfield set in woods that have now been turned into recreational areas and new build holiday homes. I have mini panic, when I hear that they do parachute jumps from trips from the airfield, I am not sure I would fit one of the harness very well, and I do have a dislike of wind blowing up my backside, which I am sure would happen if I have to jump. But I should have known, we are not on an outward-bound trip, so it’s a quite night in with a bottle and some good food – ah. I’m happy I have a walk on a beach, in a little town, this evening a great walk in the woods, now that’s the life.

But its not a quite night, it’s a stormy one, the wind and rain dashed down all night.
We topped up our gas bottles on route, we have been using the gas central heating a bit, and we need it tonight !

It’s going to be a bumpy difficult journey tomorrow if it stays like this………..
