Beam me up Scotty !

We all had one of those moments, and its down to the new “son”! of Tom Tom.
Pricilla was in auto cruise mode, Alan steering us down the autoroute, Guy dishing out the sweeties from the glove box, when an ethereal voice came over the radio.
We were all booging down with some good old disco music when the volume was cut and I heard my mate Tom from back home wishing us a safe journey and telling us it was going to snow!! But it was not Tom, it was son of Tom Tom who can now read out text messages. Dads were amazed; they had not read that page of the manual. But apparently the all singing box picks up all phone calls and does hands free (not sure if I should say that!) and when a text message is received, it reads it out including translating the smiley symbol to “smiley face” text. How cool is that. We just wait for more text messages, it keeps them happy.

They tried to dry up Honfleur wine lake, red house wine for 50p Litre, Pricilla seemed a little sluggish today, but I guess the liquid ballast has something to do with it. It was a smooth drive even so, and Guy was delighted because we only paid out €8 over a 200 km, bargain.

We have arrived in Surtainville (Basse-Normandie), which they tell me is just around the corner from Cherbourg, and when we went over the dunes we had a great sandy bay with the island of Jersey visible. Dads said the whole area is known for the part it play during the 39-45 war, with all the beaches like Omaha, Utah, Sword, Juno and Gold just across the headland. Dads were saying it must be busy in the season, there are lots of country hotels and restaurants, it looked nice as I sat on my settee looking out of the window.

As we lounge and catch up with satellite TV, the wind is beginning to blow and the temperature has dropped to 7.5deg, someone is not going to be happy when I need my final constitution of the day!!

The blog software ia nor working properly, and so I cannot move the picsturs to where want them so for today, this is how it will be. Pic 1 is me in my driving position, taking in the sights. Pic 2 as you can see its my play on the beach, sand was blowing up my rear _ I hate it. Pic 3 The only campers in the village, as usual we have the pic of the best pitches PIc 4 A bit to rough for any paw or toe dibbling although there were a couple of people (must be from a local secure unit !) on surf boards how mad can people get ?

I have decided that stats are needed. So each update will include fuel and toll charges, aimed at giving you an idea of costs that are not easy to calculate before you leave home. So:

Distance yesterday: 240 km
Total to date : 240 km
Tolls on this bit : €26

Distance today : 204 km
Total do date : 444 km
Tolls on the bit : €8
Best diesel price: €117 lt
